This is Stephanie, celebrating my favorite holiday - July 4th. What’s not to love? Flags, friends, family, freedom, and fireworks - unless you’re a dog who doesn’t.
Our Rudy, (pictured below looking tortured in her patriotic dress, ready for this year’s Yankee Doodle parade) would sleep through fireworks and thunder. Meanwhile, her daughter, Lucy, flinched and whimpered. We kenneled our dear Lucy in the basement with blankets and a loud sound machine to escape the booms.
She passed last year, but thinking of her this week, I had an idea for a community service tip.
If you live in an area with a quieter evening on the 3rd and 4th (5th & 6th, likely, too), there’s still time to host your friend’s cowering canine.
For all our furry and fleshy family members, we wish you a fun and safe Fourth!
Happy serving,
Stephanie Sharp
