Y’all are awesome. Thank you for sharing Serve60Sharp with your networks. Let’s do this thing!
Have you been working on your Thank You Wave this week? A lot of our readers are in the Kansas City area and there are a LOT of opportunities to use it right now with all the lane closures for the 69 Express. This week’s concept dovetails with the Thank You Wave, and takes even less work than lifting your hand, just use your blinker.
We drive because we need to get places. It’s rare to drive just for driving’s sake. When you’re going somewhere, it’s usually at a specific time. Again, it’s rare to use a car to go somewhere which it doesn’t matter when you get there.
In other words, we’re usually on a schedule when we’re driving. We have places to be and things to do. So does everyone else on the road. Here’s a scenario where you can serve your fellow drivers:
Picture yourself driving on a street with two lanes going the same direction. On the left side of the road, there's a clearly marked lane with arrows indicating it's for vehicles going straight ahead. On the right side, there's another lane also marked for vehicles going straight, but with an additional arrow indicating vehicles can also turn right.
You need to turn right, but there is no separate right-turn lane. The left lane is empty. The car in front of you is going straight. You wait (patiently?) through the light.
What if the car in front of you had changed lanes to the left so any right-turners behind them would be free to go, rather than wait through the light?
YOU can be that person! Flip that blinker and get in the left lane when there’s no right-turn lane.
Plus - you just might get a Thank You Wave, or share one if a driver does that for you.
Happy serving!
