Last week’s Serve60Sharp encouraged public servants to think about using “birthdayta” from the voter files to wish constituents a Happy Birthday. This can be done with a printed card, an email, or text, depending on the data you have for the voter. We can purchase email addresses and cell phone numbers for most voters as well. For VoteSharp users, we upload this data for free into the app.
That being said, some states publish years of birth, not dates. What a bummer. I guess public servants in those states are out of luck.
NOPE!!
We’ve got one better (it might even be better than birthdays)!

If you’re an elected official or candidate, what’s better to celebrate than a voter’s registration anniversary – their Voterversary!
Today’s the day you became a voter! Anyone can wish you a Happy Birthday. Heck, that may be one of the few redeeming values of Facebook. But only your elected officials care about the date you became eligible to vote. They’re probably the only people who care about that date! It’s something unique and very logical to the role you fill.
Serve Concept: Send a card, a text, or voicemail, recognizing the date and bringing attention to the role the voter plays in your elected office, or in practicing democracy at a macro level.
Expand the Concept: Every few years, work with elected colleagues to split the cost of a refrigerator magnet with important community contact information or “elected officials directory” to celebrate the date.
Happy serving!
