When you say “Follow, follow, follow, follow, follow” to a Kansan, it is compulsory to sing “the yellow brick road”. You’re welcome for the earworm! 👂🐛 Each of you will have at least FIVE statewide officers representing you AND seeking your vote.
Another X marks the spot in the top-right area of your CIVIC Bingo card:
Follow your statewide officials on social media.
What does this have to do with serving your community?
Social media tends to be more informal, so you get a feel for your elected representatives’ personalities, their level of partisanship, their priorities, etc. If they do it well, they’ll also give a peek inside their personal lives.
One of my favorite follows on Twitter is Frances, the First Cat of KS: https://twitter.com/firstcatofks
WV Governor Jim Justice also has a pet Twitter. Not a frequent poster, but Babydog Justice is a bulldog. Who can deny that face? https://twitter.com/BabydogJustice
Updates from elected officials make you more informed about current affairs.
Even if you don’t read them all, you know how to reach the person if you have a question about an issue.
When your friends and neighbors have questions about these or other issues, you have a connection to get answers - and might already know about the issue!
Happy serving,
